Uganda

Why Uganda

Uganda is principally known for its Mountain Gorillas but it offers SO much more.  Remote Savannah, tangled jungle, vibrant people, fascinating tribal cultures, the Equator, the Great Rift Valley, sparkling crater lakes, the majestic Nile, primates galore, a paradise for the birding expert.  Uganda is a rare find - still authentic Africa with all its beauty, richness, raw wilderness and warm and welcoming people in one single country.

 The Mountains of the Moon

Trekking the mystic Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda is a truly unique experience.  The wonder of the high glaciers, beauty of the valley of nine lakes, the bearded lichen hanging from giant heathers against a backdrop of rocky cliffs and snow capped peaks, simply take your breath away.

On the trek you see a wide range of flora and fauna in several biospheres as you ascend through different zones of vegetation, totally untouched and visited by few, the Rwenzoris are a rare gem to be relished.

A World Heritage Site, the Rwenzori Mountains offer the opportunity to enjoy the best of our precious natural world with plant life ranging from heavy tropical rainforest to bamboo, montane cloud forest to alpine vegetation and the scenery is spectacular.  When you reach 4500 metres the snow and glaciers begin, adding a special dimension to the wondrous views out across a pristine mountain range.
