Western Uganda Expedition​ 12 Days

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National park
Day 3: Chimp trekking – Transfer to Mweya (QENP)
Day 4: Game drives (QENP).
Day 5: Game drives – Boat trip (QENP).
Day 6: Kyambura gorge – Transfer to Ishasha (QENP)
Day 7: Game Drives – Ishasha (QENP)
Day 8: Game Drive – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking – Bwindi Impenetrable NP.
Day 10: Bwindi – Transfer to Lake Mburo NP.
Day 11: Lake Mburo – transfer to Kampala.
Day 12: Kampala visit and Departure.

What is included on this trip?

Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport.
On arrival at Entebbe airport you will be met by AJ tours travel team. Here you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight.
Day 2: Kampala - Transfer to Kibale.
After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park via Mubende with a stop-over at Fort Portal Town for lunch. After lunch you proceed to Kibale Forest National Park.
Accommodation: Kanyanchu Primates Lodge or Mountains of the Moon Hotel.
Day 3: Kibale NP – Queen Elizabeth NP (Mweya).
After breakfast you will depart to the forest for the Chimpanzee Trek. Here you will be guided through the forest, which is a paradise of many species of birds, chimps, Baboons and white colobus monkeys. After Chimp trekking you return to the camp for lunch. After lunch you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Accommodation: Mweya safari Lodge or Euphorbia Lodge.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth NP is divided into sections. Today you will visit the Northern section (Mweya) of the park, this will include a visit to the crater lakes and then return to the hotel for Lunch.
Following Lunch there will be a further short game drive before taking a community walk including a visit to the Kasenyi fishing village and salt works.
 Accommodation: Mweya safari Lodge or Euphorbia Lodge.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth NP
After Breakfast you will depart for an early morning game drive to include visiting the Kob mating ground where a large number of the Uganda Kobs converge. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to lions, Kobs, Elephants, Buffalos, warthogs, bushbuck and waterbuck.
After a Picnic lunch you will go for a boat trip on the Kazinga channel. The Kazinga Channel is a natural channel of 36 km long between Lake George and Lake Edward. There will be the potential to see elephants, hippo, Nile crocodile and many water birds. The water birds are plentiful along the channel: African skimmers, African fish eagles, cormorants, saddle-billed storks, pelicans, etc. The Kazinga Channel divides Queen Elizabeth in a northern (Mweya) and southern part (Maramagambo, Kyambura, and Ishasha). Landscapes will be different. The northern part is a euphorbia savannah while the southern sector is a typical acacia savannah.

Day 6: Kyambura – Transfer to Ishasha (QENP)
After an early morning breakfast you transfer to Kyambura gorge. Here you will be briefed by the guides before proceeding to trek the chimps .The trek takes a few hours and a picnic lunch will be served before heading to Ishasha.
Accommodation: Ishasha Wilderness camp or Jungle lodge
Day 7: Ishasha Queen Elizabeth NP
After breakfast you will explore the southern part of Queen Elizabeth NP (Ishasha). This will expose you to a variety of wild animals. These include: Elephants, herds of buffalo, Uganda Kob and Topi. Near to the swamps of the southern circuit you might even see leopard. We continue and drive to the northern circuit which is the area near the main road known for its tree climbing lions.
You return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for another game drive

Day 8: Ishasha – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP
Before you depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP, you have a further game drive in Ishasha. You will return to the hotel for lunch and thereafter transfer to Bwindi. The journey from Ishasha to Bwindi takes about 2 hours.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP is a natural rain forest that has beautiful scenery for trekkers. Here you will be required to report to the Park headquarters for briefing for Gorilla trekking at 7h00 am. Gorilla trekking is unpredictable, it can take from 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorilla group you have been given. A good physical condition is recommended. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. A ranger will brief you on how to behave with the gorillas. You will go with a picnic lunch when trekking the gorillas.
Accommodation: Buhoma Community Rest Camp.
Day 10: Bwindi – Transfer to Lake Mburo NP
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Mburo NP. This journey takes about 4 hours. You will have a picnic lunch on the way. In the afternoon you will relax at the hotel and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the national park.
Accommodation: Mantana Tented Camp or UWA bandas.
Day 11: Lake Mburo NP – Transfer to Kampala.
Early morning wake up for a guided nature walk before breakfast. After breakfast there will be a morning game drive. Here you will be able to see Zebras, buffalos, elephants and other wide varieties of wild animals. After lunch, you will proceed to Kampala.
Day 12: Departure.
For flight departing in the morning, you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for departure. For evening flights, you will do a Kampala city tour, Kasubi Tombs and the craft markets.
